Air Filtration & Covid-19: How to maintain clean air in your home or business

It’s never been more important to maintain proper filtration and ventilation to keep your home and your business full of clean air. Proper maintenance of air filters can contribute to a healthy environment.

Replace your air filters regularly

Every time your air conditioner turns on, it accrues dirt and particles that can build up over time. A good rule of thumb is, if you can’t see through it, it’s probably time to replace it. Replacing filters every three months will keep your unit running efficiently, which can also reduce your energy bills. Eventually the filters will require full cleaning or replacement. Follow the manufacturer’s recommendations on maintenance and replacements and contact us if you have questions or are unsure about next steps.

Tips for air filter maintenance:

  • Set it and forget it: create quarterly reminders using your smart phone or computer or do it old school and mark dates on your yearly calendar ahead of time.

  • Do the paper test: find a sheet of paper (regular printer paper or a junk mail flyer) and hold it up to your vent. Typically, if the sheet of paper doesn’t stick, it’s a good sign the filter needs replacement. Contact us if you need an expert opinion.
